COMPUTER PRIVACY
Computer Privacy for Offshore Finacial Confidentiality
When it comes to going offshore, Internet connection can play an important
part in communicating with the foreign bank or the service providers. However,
basic computer security measures should be taken to maximize on your privacy.
The default operating systems like XP and program software settings do not give you any real privacy -
you must secure your computer and communications. The courts have shown you can have no expectation
of privacy when you use the Internet.
Phone Privacy
My first recommendation is to download and use the free VoIP software from
Skype.com to have voice of computer and instant messaging - all fully encrypted
and secure.
Search for: islander777 then click on add to address book
- it authorizes our contact. Otherwise, I recommend you buy a prepaid phone card
if you plan to call any offshore locations so you do not leave a trace of numbers
on your personal phone bill. Beware of calling your offshore bank from home frequently,
it leaves an auditor with a trail to follow.

Fax
I recommend you open a free jFax.com account and forward all the incoming
faxes to your secure email account. Select password protection to make it more
difficult for interception to view a captured attachment. Do not pay extra for their premium account, it
worked poorly for us, the free service was better. If you want better fax security and service, use Protus.com, which
encrypts the fax and forwards to your secure email as an attachment. Perfect for Hushmail users.

E-mail
I recommend a premium Hushmail offshore web-based mail account. You can open it here:

Alternatively, you can open one at mailvault.com
Internet
When you connect to an offshore bank, your computer's IP number leaves a
trail to your doorstep for every web site you visit. It is possible for agencies
to monitor everywhere you go and store those records. It is also possible
to web surf anonymously and encrypted to remove all data linked to you. MetroPipe
Tunnel is a very good product at under $95 year.
File Storage
Offshore records should not be stored on your computer's hard drive or as
printed copies in your desk or filing cabinet. Leave your originals offshore
with the Director. If you must have items stored, use a folder or drive
encryption system.
Passwords
Keep passwords on an encrypted removable floppy disk; or a small note book
that is not near your office.
Hackers
A great firewall and anti-virus system are both needed to survive long term Internet use.
These points will be expanded on, and covered by software solutions for
clients within their product Directory.
